Rory McIlroy Ruptures Ankle Ligament Playing Soccer
It was just a friendly soccer game with some buddies.
But it might come at a big price for Rory McIlroy.
McElroy said he suffered a total rupture of the most commonly sprained ligament in the ankle, injuring his left ankle on Saturday. McIlroy posted on his Instagram account that rehab had begun but there was no timetable on when he'd be back playing golf.
According to the story on espn.com, it's not known if McIlroy would be ready for the Open Championship, scheduled to begin July 16th at St. Andrews. McIlroy is the defending Open champion.
