Phil Mickelson Wins The Open Championship With Spectacular Comeback

Phil Mickelson won his first-ever Open Championship on Sunday, with a spectacular come-from-behind victory at Muirfield Golf Links, in Scotland.

Mickelson birdied four of his last six holes, including a 10-footer on the final hole, to finish off his final round at a five-under, 66, and finish the tournament at a three-under, 281.

The round of 66 equaled the best round of the tournament, and gave Mickelson, who began the final day five strokes in back of Lee Westwood, a three-stroke win over Henrik Stenson, who finished at an even par, 284, while Westwood, Ian Poulter, and Adam Scott finished in a three-way tie for third place, at a one-over, 285.

Tiger Woods, along with Hideki Matsuyama and Zach Johnson all finished at a two-over, 286, five strokes in back of Mickelson.

For the 43-year old Mickelson, it's his first Claret Jug, which secures a win in every major tournament, along with his fifth major title.
