Results of First Round SBC Men’s Tournament Action

The first round of the Sun Belt Men's Basketball Tournament was completed Wednesday and went according to seeding, with one exception:

#9 Texas State defeated #8 Coastal Carolina 73-66 and will play #1 Louisiana in the Quarterfinals Friday at 11:30 am..  Details.  Louisiana defeated Texas State twice during the regular season.

#5 Appalachian State won over #12 Little Rock 93-64.  They'll meet #4 UTA Friday at 2:00 pm.  Details. The two teams split their two games, with each winning at home.

#7 Troy was a winner over #12 South Alabama, 69-62, beating the Jaguars for the third time this season.  Details.  They'll now face #2 Georgia State in the quarterfinals at 5:00 Friday.  The Trojans defeated GSU twice during the regular season.

And, in the nightcap, ULM found the third time to be the charm as they defeated #11 Arkansas State for the first time this season, beating the Red Wolves, 76-54.  Details.  Next up for the Warhawks is #3 Georgia Southern a team that ULM defeated in overtime in the only meeting between the two schools.  That game tips off at 7:30.
