Plaxico Burress spent the first five seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, racking up 4,164 yards during his tenure. After a stint in New York with the Giants where he won a Super Bowl, then a stint in jail after shooting himself in the leg, then a stint in New York with the Jets, Buress found himself out of a job this season.

Burress has courted himself to several teams in the league, but to not avail...until today. He worked out with his former team, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have decided to sign the 35 year old.

Plaxico scored 8 touchdowns last season, proving that he's still a viable red-zone target. The Steelers have seen a rash of injuries to their roster as of late, and are hoping Burress can give their offense a spark.

NFL.com's Aditi Kinkhabwala broke the story earlier today.
