The National Football League Players' Association has asked for a temporary restraining order that would block any suspension of Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.  ESPN reported the news after obtaining a court filing.

In the request, the NFLPA cites new facts revealed during the appeal hearing held this week. Specifically, the filing says  Kia Wright Roberts, testified Tuesday that she was the only NFL employee who interviewed the running back's accuser, Tiffany Thompson, during the investigation and that she would not have recommended discipline for Elliott based on what she found.  Roberts is the NFL's director of investigations.  The suit says Roberts was not allowed to convey that opinion to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell or the "independent advisors."

On top of that, the NFLPA claims, Elliott and the union were denied the rights of a fair procedure when arbitrator Harold Henderson would not grant their request to have Thompson testify. Elliott did testify at this week's appeal hearing.

If the suspension is upheld, the court could stay the suspension while it reviews the matter and Elliott would be eligible to play until the court rules.
