On Wednesday night, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant became only the fifth player in NBA history, and the youngest ever, to reach 30,000 career points.

Bryant accomplished the feat as the Lakers defeated the New Orleans Hornets, 103-87, at the New Orleans Arena.

The 34-year-old Bryant was actually drafted by the Hornets, who were then located in Charlotte, back in 1996, before being traded to the Lakers for Vlade Divac.

Bryant joins Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, and Michael Jordan as the only players to accomplish the milestone.

Bryant will likely pass Chamberlain, who had 31,419 career points, late this season, or early next season, and should surpass Jordan, who accumulated 32,292 career points, at some point next year, barring injury.
