Watch Kobayashi Eat Record 337 Wings, Then Feeds Thousands
Restaurant owners must have nightmares about Takeru Kobayashi showing up at their all-you-can-eat buffets.
The world-famous competitive eater set a new Wing Bowl record by eating 337 chicken wings at the annual chicken-wing eating contest, whose 20th installment was held in front of nearly 20,000 cheering fans at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Friday.
Not cheering: the proctologists who get to examine the competitors at their next annual check-up.
Despite it being his first year of competition, Kobayashi gobbled up more hot wings than three-time returning champ Jonathan “Super” Squibb, who finished in second.
For the win, Kobayashi received $20,000 and a ring. The eating champ teamed with a local car dealer to present Philabundance, a regional food bank, a check for $3,370.00, or $10 for each wing he ate. The donation will fund 7740 meals for the Delaware Valley’s needy.
