The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has extended several hunting seasons after the recent winter storm stopped activities across the state.

LDWF Secretary Madison signed a Declaration of Emergency on Monday extending recreation, and state-regulated hunting seasons for several animals.

The DE yesterday read in part:

Recognizing that extreme weather prevented hunting activity in much of the state and that Louisiana's resident game populations can sustain an expanded season to mitigate the hunting days lost to the winter storm event, the Secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries hereby extends certain resident game hunting seasons.

Bag Limits and Regulations

While season dates have been extended, LDWF wants to remind hunters that bag limits remain unchanged.

“The season extension shall only apply to season dates and does not increase or otherwise affect the annual bag limit,” LDWF stated.
