
Louisiana Cemetery Hit by Vandals, Veterans Graves Targeted
The gravesites of several U.S. veterans were vandalized in the Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia, and now family members want those responsible brought to justice.
KLFY News 10 reports that several bronze plaques were stolen from gravesites in the cemetery and now authorities are looking for those who stole them.
A family member of a veteran who is buried in the New Iberia cemetery said it is like a spit in the face of those who have served our country. Families of those who had the plaques stolen from their gravesites don't understand why anyone could do this, and now they want the plaques returned.
According to Holy Family Cemetery, the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office has been notified of the theft, and they are looking into seven bronze plaques being removed from gravesites in the cemetery.
Authorities say they will not prosecute those responsible for the theft if the plaques are returned by Friday, January 31.
