This fall, Downtown Lafayette Unlimited (DLU) wraps up its 40th year of Downtown Alive!, presented by a longstanding downtown business, Evangeline Maid. Promoting the city center’s food, music, culture, and commerce — DLU proudly kicks off weekends in Acadiana and thanks the community for its support of this well-known tradition.

Downtown Lafayette Unlimited and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette partner up to kick-off the fall season of Downtown Alive! on August 25th with music by The Rouge Krewe.

Other notable performances include Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters, Bonsoir Catin, Tommy McLain featuring CC Adcock & special guests with Jon Cleary, and an Acadiana all-star performance celebration of Downtown Alive! Presents: Local Palooza featuring Roddie Romero and the Hub City All-Stars with special guests Sonny Landreth, Michael Doucet, Steve Riley, Geno Delafose, Feufollet, Corey Ledet, and so much more!

“We are excited to be kicking off the fall season of DTA! with a first-of-its-kind partnership with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette that will be a great opportunity to connect campus to community by welcoming students to Downtown Lafayette and encouraging them to enjoy everything that the heart of our city has to offer,” says Anita Begnaud, CEO of DLU and DDA.

What started back in 1983 as an effort to bring the community together on a continuing basis is still thriving 40 years later. Considered Louisiana’s longest-standing free outdoor concert series, DTA! celebrates music, culture, and downtown’s place as a welcoming, creative, diverse, and active city center. Begnaud highlights that, “This fall season, DLU is partnering with Lafayette Consolidated Government to present Local Palooza, a showcase of some of the biggest names in local music. It’ll be a cultural celebration you won’t want to miss!”

Downtown Alive! presented by Evangeline Maid, would not be possible without the generous support of additional sponsors like Lafayette Consolidated Government, Lafayette Utilities System, LUSFiber, KRVS, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Lafayette Travel, b1 Bank, Super 1 Foods, Home Bank, Louisiana Cultural Districts, and the Louisiana Office of Cultural Development.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary, in addition to the 2023 season’s merchandise, DLU is offering limited edition versions of the 1983 original DTA! poster design on t-shirts, posters, and stickers. All merchandise is available for purchase online and during all DTA! events.

The entire community is invited to enjoy free, live music at DTA! in Downtown Lafayette this fall! Music starts at 6:00 p.m. and concludes at 9:00 p.m. Please leave ice chests at home to help keep DTA! free to the public – grab a drink from the beverage tent and a bite to eat from food vendors and downtown restaurants. Most importantly, don’t forget to support local small businesses while downtown!
