Texas City Home to One of the Top 10 Shopping Malls in America
Many people think that shopping malls are a dying breed. And while that may be true, you know for a lot of us if someone says, "Hey, let's go the mall," we'd be all over it.
Okay, maybe for just a certain segment of us. And then the ones who grew up going to malls and won't let their legacies die.
I know when I travel to other states, and especially in bigger cities, I like to check out their shopping malls.
From bargain-brand stores to luxury boutiques, malls are still as American as it gets.
So, if you're like me and want to check out the best shopping malls that the good ole United States of America has to offer, The Travel Channel put together a Top 10 list.
Here is that Top 10 list, including one city in Texas that made the cut. (You probably won't be surprised this mall is included.)
1. Mall of America - Bloomington, Minnesota
Most people know that this is the mecca for malls in America. The options are endless with 520 stores, 50 restaurants, and endless entertainment options. Heck, there's even an indoor amusement park.
2. King of Prussia - Upper Merion Township, Pennsylvania
This mall is located just outside of Philadelphia and is the largest on the East Coast with three million square feet of shopping mania. It's the largest shopping mall in Pennsylvania and the third-largest shopping mall in the United States. Around 450 retailers call this mall home.
3. Sawgrass Mills - Sunrise, Florida
This unique shopping mall combines indoor and outdoor shopping venues. There are some lower-priced retailers up to the high-end fashion outfits like Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Saks off Fifth, and the Burberry Factory Outlet. Uniquely Floridian in nature, the mall is designed in the shape of an alligator.
4. The Shops at Columbia Circle - New York, New York
It takes a lot to stand out in New York City's shopping scene, and The Shops at Columbia Circle manages to do that. Opened in 2004, this is definitely an upscale shopping mall with high-end stores and restaurants. But it also contains the largest Whole Foods Market at 59,000 square feet.
5. The Galleria - Houston, Texas
If you want a Texas-sized shopping experience, then there's not much that can compete with the Galleria in Houston. It's the largest mall in Texas at over 2.4 million square feet and contains about 400 stores. It even has an ice skating rink and two hotels located directly in the Galleria complex.
And here is the rest of the Top 10:
6. Via Bellagio - Las Vegas, Nevada
7. The Grove - Los Angeles, California
8. Tysons Corner Center - Tysons, Virginia
9. South Coast Plaza - Costa Mesa, California
10. The Mall at Short Hills - Short Hills, New Jersey
