A charter bus with several passengers onboard caught fire while traveling I-10 East in Lafayette, Louisiana on Labor Day.

Photos show several passengers alongside the busy highway while the bus was engulfed in flames and while fire officials attempted to extinguish the blaze.

The Lafayette Fire Department and other agencies responded to the fire as traffic came to a halt on I-10 as many attempted to return home from the busy holiday weekend.

Authorities say that a tire blew and that is what sparked the fire in the engine, while the bus was traveling I-10 East in Lafayette.

The passengers who were on the bus when it went up in flames safely exited and no one was injured in the fire. Those stranded were taken to a nearby travel center and ultimately put onto another bus.

The Carencro Fire Department also responded to the bus fire and they posted these photos on their social media account once the blaze was extinguished.
