Shreveport Car Chase Ends With Gun and Drug Arrests
Shreveport Police have put two men behind bars after a car chase through West Shreveport.
Late yesterday evening, Shreveport Police attempted a routine traffic stop. The car refused to stop, leading Police in to a car chase. SPD was eventually able to catch the two men in the car identified as Nicholas Dinkins and Jadius Housley. A search was done and it revealed that the two were in possession of a gun and drugs.
The two men were arrested and Dinkins was charged with the following:
· Aggravated flight from an officer
· Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
· Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
· Resisting an officer
His passenger, Jadius Housley, was also arrested and charged with distribution of narcotics.
SPD reviewed Dinkins' criminal history and learned that he had been convicted three times for illegal possession of stolen property (felony) and one time for vehicle theft, making him a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Dinkins' had also missed a recent court date and had an active warrant out for his arrest for theft of a motor vehicle.
From SPD:
"Both individuals now face charges stemming from this incident. Thanks to the swift actions of our officers, these individuals are off the streets and can no longer pose a threat to the community."
