Will Wade And Players Discuss Gonzaga Game At NCAA Tournament
The McNeese Cowboys will be taking on the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Thursday in Salt Lake City. Head Coach Will Wade and Players Shahada Wells and Christian Shumate discussed the matchup in a press conference ahead of the game.
For the third time in the history of the program, McNeese will take part in the "Big Dance." The Cowboys are going to play a program they hope to imitate. Gonzaga and McNeese will meet in Salt Lake City.
The Cowboys will play in the Midwest in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight games, which are scheduled for Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 31 in Detroit, respectively.
The Cowboys (30-3) will participate in The Big Dance for the first time since 2002 and only the third time in school history. The 12-seed also matches the highest seed a Southland Conference team has received in the preceding 40 years (SFA in 2014 and 2015), a distinction never held by the Cowboys program.
Gonzaga (25-7), who finished second in the West Coast Conference and lost the WCC Tournament Championship game against St. Mary's, 69-60, was rated 17th in the AP poll. The Bulldogs will be taking part in the competition for the 26th time.
Gonzaga and McNeese will play on Thursday in Salt Lake City. The game will begin at 6:25 CT on Thursday at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. TBS will broadcast the game, with Dana Jacobson, Brendan Haywood, and Brad Nessler calling the action.
