McNeese Opens Pivotal Road Trip at Southeastern Tuesday
Hammond, Louisiana (KNGT-FM) - It is officially the backstretch for the McNeese Cowboys men's basketball team as they get set to begin the second half of the Southland Conference slate, and the upcoming road trip might be the biggest of the season.
Head coach Bill Armstrong and the Cowboys got a much-needed day of rest Sunday after their game against Southeastern was moved from Monday to Tuesday due to freezing conditions across much of the state.
Now, McNeese turns its focus to a pivotal road swing, with games against Southeastern, Lamar, and Stephen F. Austin over the next week.

The first task at hand: the Southeastern Lions.
This will be the second meeting of the season between Southeastern and McNeese, with the Cowboys winning the first game 73-61 back on January 10 in Lake Charles. In that win, Tyshawn Archie led the Cowboys with a career-high 25 points while shooting 11-of-19 from the field.
McNeese enters Tuesday’s game with a 16-4 overall record and a 9-2 mark in Southland Conference play. The Cowboys sit just one game behind first-place Stephen F. Austin as the second half of the conference schedule begins.
McNeese is coming off two strong wins over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Monday and New Orleans on Saturday. The win over New Orleans marked McNeese’s 23rd straight home victory and its 30th straight home win against Southland Conference teams.
In the win over New Orleans on Saturday, Freshman Larry Johnson was just as impressive as ever. He poured in a game-high 26 points, while adding eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals without committing a turnover.
For Southeastern, the Lions come in 6-14 overall and 3-8 in Southland Conference play. Jeremy Elyzee and Isaiah Gaines lead Southeastern, averaging just over 11 points per contest.
Southeastern will host McNeese on Tuesday, with tip-off at 6 p.m. in the University Center, and the game will air on ESPN+.
