New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson says she is responsible for turning around the team's disappointing start. Speaking to the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club on Tuesday, Benson addressed the Saints' 1-4 record and the growing frustration among fans.

"We are one and four, and that is not acceptable to me. It falls short of what our fans truly deserve," Benson said.

Saints Struggles Continue on Sunday Against Minnesota

The Saints dropped to 1-4 after Sunday's 23-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, finishing their three-game homestand with three straight defeats. The loss to Minnesota was one of the Saints' worst offensive performances in years. New Orleans finished with just 142 yards of total offense and struggled to find answers against the Vikings' defense.

Quarterback Tyler Shough completed 16 of 25 passes for 96 yards and threw two interceptions. The Saints also struggled to run the ball, finishing with just 55 rushing yards.

Gayle Benson Speaks Out About 1-4 Start To Season

Benson said she understands the frustration and knows the team must improve. "As an owner, the responsibility does start with me. I will not make excuses, and I will not accept this level of performance as our standard," she said.

Benson added that the organization understands the urgency of turning things around. "We must prepare better, execute consistently, and correct the mistakes that are costing us the games," she said.

The Saints entered the season hoping to take a step forward under head coach Kellen Moore. Instead, the team has struggled on offense and lost four of its first five games.

Benson said Saints fans' loyalty should never be taken for granted, especially during difficult seasons. "Words will not restore our fans' confidence. Our performance must do that," she said.

Benson closed her remarks by making it clear that she expects a better effort from the entire organization. "I expect better. Our fans deserve better, and I am determined to see that we do it."
