Sources close to the UL Athletics Department have told ESPN1420 that LSU Offensive Coordinator Gary Crowton is not a candidate for the Louisiana coaching vacancy.

The source, who asked not to be identified, said Crowton has not been contacted by the University for an interview and that there are no plans to have contact with Crowton.

"He's not a candidate," the source said.

Crowton has been the offensive coordinator with the Tigers for four years.  LSU won the national championship in Crowton's first season.  The 53 year old Crowton had previously been the head coach at Louisiana Tech and BYU.

ESPN142o had previously identified Crowton as a candidate and several sources reported yesterday that Crowton was on the Cajuns' interview list.  That was emphatically denied by our sources.

Further information will be reported as we receive it.
