Minor League Player Costs His Team Walk-Off Win After Not Touching Second Base – VIDEO

This is video of a minor league baseball game, in which a base runner costs his team a victory, after not touching second base, on what should have been a walk-off single.

It happened during  a Class-A game between the Lansing Lugnuts and the Great Lakes Loons.

With the score tied, two outs, and a 3-2 count in the bottom half of the ninth inning, Chris Hawkins of Lansing grounded an apparent single up-the-middle, driving home what should have been the winning run.

Lugnuts players, including Santiago Nessy, the runner at first celebrated the apparent victory. But, as you can clearly see on the video, Nessy never went to touch second base, so he becomes a force out.

After a conference among the umpires, Nessy was correctly called out.

That moved the game to extra innings, where the Loons went on to win.

Nessy will never live this blunder down.
