McNeese Names Frank Wilson Head Coach
Well, it certainly didn't take the McNeese Cowboys very long to name their new football coach.
Just four days after former head coach Sterlin Gilbert resigned from his post to take the offensive coordinator position at Syracuse, McNeese found his replacement on Thursday, naming Frank Wilson, a former football assistant coach for the LSU Tigers, and the head coach at UTSA for the last four seasons (2016-2019), as the new head man.
A native of New Orleans, and a former collegiate player at Nicholls St., Wilson spent six seasons at LSU (2010-2015), serving as running backs coach and recruiting coordinator.
The 46-year Wilson compiled an overall record of 19-29 over four seasons at UTSA, including a 4-8 record in 2019.
Prior to his tenure at LSU, Wilson served as an assistant at Ole Miss (2005-2007), Southern Miss (2008), and Tennessee (2009).
Wilson began his coaching career as a high school coach at Edna Karr (1997-1999), prior to becoming the head coach at O.P. Walker (2000-2003).
