Well, lo and behold, maybe Jay Cutler was hurt after all.

The Chicago quarterback played only one series in the second half and then wasn't seen again the rest of the day, prompting some to question his toughness.
But Coach Lovie Smith today said that an MRI revealed that Cutler has a sprained medial collateral ligament, which is what the original diagnosis on the field was.
Smith went on to say that if the Bears had made it to the Super Bowl, it would have been questionable that Cutler would have been ready to go.  Cutler's teammates were quick to come to his defense as well.
