Two people were injured by gunfire in Mamou, Louisiana, Monday night during Mardi Gras festivities.

KLFY News 10 reports that the shooting happened just after 10 pm during a street dance in the small south Louisiana town.

A fight broke out during a street dance, and that is when gunfire erupted, injuring the two people. According to the news report, the injuries were not life-threatening.

The street dance was shut down after the incident. We should note that there were two separate events held on the streets in Mamou Monday night, however, the report does not say at which stage the shooting happened.

Several people took to social media late Monday night, expressing their disgust for that type of behavior in Mamou for Lundi Gras.

As more information becomes available in this incident, we will share it here and on this station's mobile app.
