Something needs to be done about this.

Several local news outlets in New Orleans are reporting that the NFL and the NBA are concerned about the "constant" car break-ins during events held at the Superdome and the Smoothie King Center.

Both leagues have acknowledged that the crime in the area could have an impact on New Orleans getting or not getting any future sporting events in both sporting venues.

The Saints and Pelicans organizations are aware of vehicles being broken into and they have reportedly been in contact with NOPD about the issue.

FOX 8 reports, "In a press conference Thursday, NOPD Interim Superintendent Michelle Woodfork reassured the teams that her department is capable of handling major events."

Additional officers will be assigned around the Superdome and the Smoothie King Center when events are happening in the respective venues.

New Orleans is set to host the Super Bowl in 2025.

We should add here that it was reported earlier in the week that several vehicles were recently broken into as New Orleans hosted the Sugar Bowl in the Ceasars Superdome.

Now, several local businesses around the dome and arena are expressing their concerns.

They say that crime in the area is deterring patrons from visiting the area when there are no sporting events in the district, and they are worried that crime will eventually deter fans from attending.
