Fire Department Hosts 22nd Anniversary Commemoration of 9/11 in Downtown Lafayette
The Lafayette Fire Department is inviting the public and media to join them in a solemn remembrance of the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The ceremony will take place on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at Parc Sans Souci, located at 201 East Vermilion Street in Downtown Lafayette.
Marking the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that claimed nearly 3,000 lives, the event aims to honor the victims and celebrate the bravery of first responders who risked their lives that day.
The Lafayette Fire Department, along with first responders throughout the parish, will gather to pay their respects to the fallen heroes and victims. Memorial wreaths will be laid at the 9/11 monument in Parc Sans Souci as part of the tribute. A moment of silence will be observed to commemorate those who were lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93.
In addition to the moment of silence, words of reflection and encouragement will be delivered, offering both tribute to the past and inspiration for the future.
The general public is warmly invited to attend this annual event, organized to ensure that the sacrifices made 22 years ago are never forgotten and to pay respect to those who continue to risk their lives in the service of others.
