Currently, South Louisiana is experiencing what is being called a generational Winter Storm event.

Even though our weather conditions are downright dangerous, Lafayette's law enforcement, first responders, and medical personnel are still on the job to help keep us safe.

The Lafayette Police Department and Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office took the opportunity to have a little fun and friendly competition during the snowstorm and challenged each other to a snowball fight!

Lafayette Police Vs Lafayette Sheriff's Office Snowball Fight

KATC's Rob Perillo is currently reporting a whopping 7 inches of snow has been recorded so far at the TV station's studio on Bertrand Dr.

This amount of snowfall has rendered roads all across Lafayette and Acadiana impassable.

However, for Acadiana's emergency personnel, they are all still on the job.

Police officers often have to work during dangerous weather events, and it can be a tough experience, especially when it means being away from their families.

In these situations, officers are expected to maintain public safety, respond to emergencies, and help communities cope with the storm's impact—all while facing the same harsh conditions themselves.

It’s a lot of pressure knowing that you might be one of the few people on the ground able to respond to urgent calls, like accidents, medical emergencies, or people trapped by the storm.

Sometimes, a tension breaker is exactly what's needed.
