8 Acadiana Area Schools in Semifinals of LHSAA Football Playoffs — Here’s the Complete Schedule
The Louisiana High School football playoffs are through three rounds and there are several Acadiana area teams still vying for state championship titles.
There are a total of eight teams from the Acadiana area that will be playing this Friday, December 1 in the Semifinal Round of the Playoffs.
Two Acadiana area teams are undefeated and the top seed in their respective divisions in St. Thomas More (Division II Select) and Vermilion Catholic (Division IV Select).
Two of the semifinal matchups, unfortunately, pit Acadiana area teams against each other. But the silver lining is that in those respective divisions, we know we'll have at least one team representing the area.
At any rate, here are the teams still in the hunt for state championships:
DIVISION II (NON-SELECT)
#12 Opelousas (10-3) @ #1 North Desoto (11-1)
#22 Northwest (10-3) @ #2 Cecilia (11-1) [listen to the game on 103.3 The Goat]
DIVISION I (SELECT)
#8 Acadiana (10-2) @ #5 Edna Karr (10-1)
DIVISION II (SELECT)
#5 Archbishop Shaw (10-2) @ #1 STM (12-0)
#7 Teurlings Catholic (9-3) @ #3 Lafayette Christian (10-2) [listen to the game on Classic Rock 105.1 & KPEL 96.5]
DIVISION IV (SELECT)
#5 Riverside Academy (11-1) @ #1 Vermilion Catholic (12-0)
An interesting tidbit in Division II Select is that for the second straight year, Teurlings Catholic, Lafayette Christian Academy, and St Thomas More have made the semifinals. All three are from the same district (4-4A).
Last year, LCA defeated TCHS in the semifinals and played STM in the championship game, in which STM won.
STM has actually won three state football championships in the last four years. LCA won four straight state championships from 2017 to 2020.

The semifinal winners move on to the Ochsner LHSAA Prep Classic on December 7-9, 2023 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Good luck to all of the Acadiana area teams still playing.
