Weird Smell Prompted Myrtle Place Elementary to Evacuate

UPDATE: KLFY now reports everything has been cleared up at the school and the students have been able to go back inside.

Myrtle Place Elementary School in Lafayette is being evacuated as a precaution because of a strange smell.

KLFY reports that officials there say a chemical smell has prompted the evacuation.

They are doing this out of an abundance of caution.

There will be no visitors can't enter or leave the campus of the school.

The message went out to parents a little earlier this morning.
