Five Things You Can Do in Louisiana That Will Get You on Santa’s Naughty List

Santa Claus is coming to Louisiana soon and you never want to be on his naughty list for the holiday season.

However, some of us here can't help but get on Santa's naughty list every year because of some of the things we do here in South Louisiana.

Look, we take pride in a lot of things down here, and when someone alters what we take pride in, we can't help but ask, "Why?"

So let's take a look at a few things that we take pride in here and what someone can do to land on Santa's naughty list this holiday season.

For starters, we all know how brutal the summer months can be in Louisiana and while many love the heat down here, many others despise the heat. So, for those who wait for the days of 100-degrees or higher, you may end up on Santa's naughty list.

One thing we take pride in here is our crawfish boils. However, some in Louisiana know how to ruin a good boil. Have you ever attended a crawfish boil and looked into the pot and asked why something was in it, that probably shouldn't be? If so, you know what I'm talking about.

For anyone who adds anything other than corn, potatoes, sausage, or onions to their crawfish boil, we're putting you on Santa's naughty list this year.

Then there are those who drive below the speed limit in the left lane on the highway. if you want to get someone fired up in Louisiana address those who drive below the speed limit in the left lane. So, if you're guilty of slowing down traffic on I-1O or I-49, we're adding you to the naughty list this holiday season.

Let's get to sports. We love sports in Louisiana and specifically, we love football. The New Orleans Saints is the home team here and their arch-rival is the Atlanta Falcons, who is in the Saints' division. So if you're cheering for the Falcon while here, you too are going on the naughty list.

Now, some will say that if you cheer for the Dallas Cowboys while in Louisiana you too should be on the naughty list, but I am here to tell you that the Cowboys aren't a rival of the Saints. They're not in the same division, but fans do love the rival among themselves.

Lastly, let's address those who can mess up a good gumbo. Specifically, we will talk to those who still put tomatoes in their gumbo. I know some love it and some parts of the state have embraced it, but not here.

I'll say this loud enough for those in the back of the class, if you add tomatoes to your gumbo you are going on the naughty list.

Again, this is all out of fun and many do love tomatoes in gumbo and some here really do like the Falcons. However, we take pride in a lot of things here and when you go against the norm, we can't help but put your name on Santa's naughty list.
