SHREVEPORT, LA – What are the deadliest parishes on the roads in Louisiana? The Center for Analytics & Research in Transportation Safety crunches the numbers and we have seen big improvements on our highways across the Bayou State.

The total numbers of fatalities in 2023 are down considerably and most parishes also show big improvement. Across the state, there were 737 total fatalities on the roads in 2023.

Of those deaths, 454 were drivers, 106 were passengers, 141 pedestrians were killed and 28 bicyclists died in traffic accidents.

More than 900 people died in fatal traffic crashes in Louisiana in 2022. 545 of the deaths were drivers of cars. 133 were passengers while 183 pedestrians were killed and 44 bicyclists died in crashes.
