
Felony Arrests In Angelina County July 28 – Aug 3
It was a very busy week for law enforcement in Angelina County. They are out there working in the heat, wearing 30lbs of gear around their middle.
They put together an impressive list of felony arrests in the Angelina County Jail. Daniel Ramirez Huertra is back behind bars for evading arrest.
He was arrested in 2018 and pleaded guilty to repeatedly ramming his ex's Ford Mustang. He took a plea deal of 10 years in prison, so he likely got an early release and set about making bad decisions again.
Lufkin Man Arrested For Sexual Assault Of A Child
Timothy Joe Layton Sr., 58, was taken to jail on warrants for six counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. From 1995 to 1998, Layton, who also goes by Elizabeth, assaulted a girl and two boys, all under the age of 14.
According to KTRE, he was taken into custody by the sheriff's office at the Texas State Penitentiary in Huntsville, where he was already serving a 20-year sentence for indecency wth a child by sexual conduct case from 2011.
Layton's bond is set at $3 million.
Corrigan Man Leads Authorities In Multi-Agency Chase
Also among this past week's arrests was the multi-agency car chase in Lufkin that ended in the arrest of Bret Dakota Scroggins, 28.
The pursuit started on Denman Ave and continued on to Fuller Springs. He was wanted after running from LPD the week before and giving officers a fake name.

Lufkin Police, Angelina County Sheriff, and Angelina DPS all joined forces and put him behind bars.
