Hours after news dropped that Mario Cristobal was fired as head coach at FIU, many in the world of college football were shocked. Now a report has come out that the Panthers number one choice to replace Cristobal is Butch Davis.

Davis, who was fired by North Carolina amid ongoing NCAA investigation in the summer of 2011, has a relationship with FIU Athletic Director Pete Garcia. While Davis was never directly implicated in the NCAA's investigation of UNC, extra benefits, academic fraud and unethical conduct by John Blake (assistant coach) were all part of the case.
