A special game preview, from the voice of the Wreckin' Rams, James P. Bitterman.

The Acadiana Wreckin Rams continued their class 5A title defense last Friday night with an impressive 38-28 victory over a very good Ponchatoula team.

The Wreckin Rams scored on drives of 73, 80, 95, 81 and 70 yards.  The 95 yard drive before half time featured the Wreckin Rams converting two fourth downs in their own territory, one on their on 14 yard line.

Coach Davidson deserves credit for having confidence in his offensive line.

The Wreckin Rams generated two time consuming drives in the second half, using 6:45 worth of the 3rd quarter clock and 5:30 worth of the 4th quarter clock.

Defensively, the Terrible Turks deserve credit as well. They held an explosive Ponchatoula offense to 301 yards.  Ponchatoula quarterback Christian Campbell lived up to his lofty billing, but the Wreckin' Ram defense helped slow him down enough to earn a victory and advance to the quarterfinals.

This week, the Wreckin Rams travel to Mandeville to face the Mandeville Skippers, led by the fast and athletic Parker Orgeron, Be Be Orgeron's son.

In Mandeville's second round game vs Barbe, Orgeron had touchdown runs of 55, 5 and 33 yards.  The Skippers went on to win with a game-winning field goal as time expired.

The Mandeville defense is led by strong side linebacker Matthew Scanlon. In the win over Barbe, Scanlon tallied 13 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 1 pass defended.

Defensively, Mandeville runs a 3-3-5 scheme, and are very succesful doing it.

The pre game show begins at 6:02 p.m. with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.  The game can be heard over the air in the Acadiana area on ESPN1420 on the AM dial, on the internet at espn1420.com, and on the free smart phone app RadioPup.
