Chevy to Unleash New Turbocharged Subcompact at Detroit Auto Show [PICTURES]
After a promising month for the once lumbering car giant, Chevrolet will roll out what’s sure to be another milestone: a turbocharged subcompact that can hit the coveted 40 miles per gallon mark.
Chevrolet released the first new images of the Sonic RS and plans to unveil it at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
The subcompact might look like a redesigned Aveo with a sportier look and better handling but it’s been redesigned to look anything but ordinary from its hot rod red paint job to the “athletic” interior.
As for what’s under the hood, it comes with a 1.4 liter engine that can produce 138 horsepower and goes from zero to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds. It also offers some high-end options for such a small car: a seven-inch touch screen interface, Bluetooth connectivity and even a specially designed smartphone app to help with navigation.
