Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team defeated the North Texas Mean Green, 5-0, on Sunday, in Denton, Texas, completing a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference sweep in the process.

Louisiana scored the first run of the game in the top half of the third inning, as Brianna Cherry singled home Natalie Fernandez with two outs, giving the Cajuns a 1-0 lead.

The Cajuns added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning, as Samantha Walsh blasted a home run over the right field fence, scoring Shellie Landry in front of her, to make it 3-0.

Louisiana added another insurance runs in the fifth, and seventh innings, as they went on to the shutout win, their second-consecutive conference sweep, and seventh-consecutive conference win.

Cherry led the Cajuns at the plate, going 3-for4, with an RBI.

In the circle, Jordan Wallace (15-6) was spectacular, tossing a complete-game, two-hit, shutout, while equaling a career-high, with 16 strikeouts. Over the weekend, Wallace had two wins, and a save, while fanning 32 hitters in 14 innings of work.

With the victory, Louisiana improved to 25-11 overall, and 8-4 in Sun Belt Conference play, while North Texas fell to 18-17 overall, and 6-7 in league play.

The Cajuns return home on Wednesday, hosting Southern Miss, in a non-conference doubleheader (4 pm) at Lamson Park.
