If you drove into downtown Lake Charles you used to see the Capital One tower which was all boarded up since 2020 when Hurricane Laura devastated Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana. The tower had been sitting empty since the hurricane and finally, the tower was demolished.
The New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Pelicans are teaming up with the NFL Foundation to donate $500,000 to relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Laura in Louisiana. Hurricane Laura was the most powerful storm to hit Louisiana in 100 years.
While the good people in Lake Charles are still working tirelessly to recover from the devastation that Hurricane Laura brought to the area, our neighbors to the West in Texas are showing their support in a very special way. Faith in humanity - restored!
It's now been close to a week since Hurricane Laura barreled through southwest Louisiana and up through central and northern parts of the state leaving a path of destruction behind.
The president is making the trip two days after the Category 4 storm slammed the Gulf Coast, leaving at least 14 dead and wreaking havoc with severe winds and flooding.
