Steve Kerr's Golden State Warriors played the best regular season in the history of the NBA, so he was the easy choice for NBA Coach of the Year.

Despite missing the first 43 games of the season with complications from back surgery, Kerr took home the honors for the first time in his career. That being said, shouldn't he have to split it with Luke Walton?

Walton stepped in while Kerr was out and led Golden State to a 39-4 record. Every team looking for a new head coach wants to talk to the young assistant coach, and rightfully so. Bill Walton's son did a damn fine job of taking the reins of one of the most high-octane teams in the history of the game. It's a shame he can't get a piece of the shine.

That being said, Kerr can still coaches his butt off. His record as an NBA Head Coach is 101-20 (minus the wins where Walton was coaching). An 80% success rate is pretty absurd.

Kerr earned 27 more first place votes than any other coach, which is expected when your team breaks an NBA record for wins (73).

The Warriors take on the Rockets in Game Five on Wendesday. A win would move them one step closer to another NBA Championship. Clearly, the Coach of the Year Award pales in comparison to the thought of adding another ring to Kerr's fistfuls of jewelry.

Hell, he would probably trade the award just to have Steph Curry back today...
