Suspects Being Sought in Break-Ins and Stolen Vehicles
Officials with the Church Point Police Department say they are looking for two suspects wanted for breaking into cars, stealing guns, and stealing cars.
Church Point Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux says they are searching for Jason Hopkins Jr aka JJ and Jamarcus Lordan after a rash of incidents on the night of Wednesday, July 31. Thibodeaux says these events happened on Cooldge St., Voitier St. area, and in the Marie St area.
Three guns were stolen along with a Toyota Tacoma in one area. After that, the offenders moved on to the Marie Street area where they stole a Nissan Altima. Now, due to the Altima having locator equipment, it was found, but the Toyota Tacoma has not been found yet. They found the Altima in the Breaux Bridge area.
Surveillance footage and other evidence, the Chief says, it what led them to develop Lordan and Hoplkins as suspects in the case. He adds they are continuing to investigate this case, and they believe that two other suspects will likely be charged in this case as well.
If you know anything about this situation or these men, please contact the Church Point Police Department at 337-684-5455.
In addition to this case, Chief Boudreaux says they need the public's help in finding these two men and two others for a drive-by shooting that happened on Wednesday, July 24.
Two of the suspects being sought in connection with this case are also being sought by police for a rash of burglaries and car thefts that happened in the week of July 31. Boudreaux says they are seeking 17-year-old Jason Hopkins Jr. aka JJ, and 18-year-old Jamarcus Lordan.
For this shooting case, they are also seeking 20-year-old Davonte Jenkins and 18-year-old Savion Z Chavis. The chief says around 11:30 they received calls about shots being fired in the 300 block of St. Jude Street.
The victim was shot two times, once near the elbow and once in his upper thing. Chief Boudreaux says they worked to retrieve surveillance footage to develop information on the vehicle seen on tape.
Once they found the car used in the drive-by shooting they also determined it had been stolen from the Sunset area on July 20. Chief Boudreaux says this drive-by shooting was an act of retaliation.
A 15th Judicial District District signed off on warrants for Assault by Drive-By Shooting for all four people.
