
Louisiana Truck Driver Dies in Mardi Gras Morning Crash in Texas
Sad news out of Bridge City, Texas as a truck driver from Louisiana died from his injuries following a wreck early on Mardi Gras morning.
According to police, the wreck happened around 5:15 a.m. in the 500 block of Texas Avenue when a semi-truck driver struck the rear of another semi-truck.
Keith Kuffler, 48, of Iota, Louisiana, was driving a 2016 Freightliner semi-truck north on Texas Avenue when he struck the rear of a 2013 Peterbilt semi-truck pulling a tank trailer driven by a 30-year-old Port Arthur man.

Both men were taken by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, authorities said.
Kuffler, who was in serious condition following the wreck, later died at the hospital, according to a news release.
The driver of the Peterbilt truck, 30-year-old Raymond McCain III, is being treated for what's been called "non-life-threatening injuries."
During the investigation, it was determined that Kuffler failed to control speed and crashed into the trailer that was being pulled by the 2013 Peterbilt semi-truck.
The investigation into this crash remains ongoing.
