Authorities are searching for a suspect following a fatal shooting on Dejean Circle in Crowley that claimed the life of 41-year-old Travis Trentel Thorne on Friday, October 18.

According to Crowley police, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 600 blosck of Dejean Circle around 9:30 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found Thorne lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He had been shot in the neck, torso, right forearm, and wrist. Emergency medical responders attempted life-saving efforts, but tragically, Thorne was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a KLFY News 10 report, the victim had been involved in a physical altercation with 30-year-old Johnus Lambert, who is now the primary suspect in the case. Police allege that after the fistfight escalated, Lambert shot Thorne multiple times before fleeing the scene in a silver 2011 Nissan Maxima.

Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Lambert. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the Crowley Police Department at (337) 783-1234. Police have not yet released additional details but emphasized that the shooting was not connected to the ongoing International Rice Festival, which was held in another part of town.
