Church Point Police Seek Public Help Locating Suspects in Drive-By Shooting
Church Point Police Department Chief Dale Boudreaux says they need the public's help in finding four men they say were part of the theft of a vehicle and a subsequent drive-by shooting on Wednesday, July 24.
Two of the suspects being sought in connection with this case are also being sought by police for a rash of burglaries and car thefts that happened in the week of July 31. Boudreaux says they are seeking 17-year-old Jason Hopkins Jr. aka JJ, and 18-year-old Jamarcus Lordan.
For this shooting case, they are also seeking 20-year-old Davonte Jenkins and 18-year-old Savion Z Chavis. The chief says around 11:30 they received calls about shots being fired in the 300 block of St. Jude Street.
The victim was shot two times, once near the elbow and once in his upper thing. Chief Boudreaux says they worked to retrieve surveillance footage to develop information on the vehicle seen on tape.
Once they found the car used in the drive-by shooting they also determined it had been stolen from the Sunset area on July 20. Chief Boudreaux says this drive-by shooting was an act of retaliation.
A 15th Judicial District District signed off on warrants for Assault by Drive-By Shooting for all four people.
The victim had to have surgery in order to repair the damage done by the shooting.
Chief Boudreaux says they are also searching for Jason Hopkins and Jamarcus Lordan after there were a series of car break-ins, burglaries, and stolen vehicles that were reported in the city on July 31.
We will keep you posted on what happens with this case.
