(KMDL-FM) There was a time when the only energy drink of any consequence in the country was coffee. But just as coffee has grown, expanded, and exploded across the nation, so have the other entities that want to make sure you have enough left in the tank to finish your day.

If you're a fan of drinks made popular by brands such as Monster, Celsius, and Red Bull, we might have some bad news for you. As those brands make way for their 2027 offerings, they will be eliminating some flavors that perhaps didn't perform as well as expected.

Monster Energy Drinks are quite popular here in Louisiana and around the world. The brand does extensive marketing, and one of Monster Beverage Corporation's minority stockholders is the Coca-Cola Company. Hence the sweet distribution deal that makes sure Monster is in your favorite stores.

However, we have learned that perhaps some of your favorite Monster flavors will be saying goodbye when the product year officially ends. All in all, according to Sporked, a food and beverage trends website, a dozen beverages produced by Monster Energy will be going away.

Among the Monster flavors we'll be saying goodbye to is Monster Ultra Fantasy Ruby Red; to me, this tasted like a Fresca on steroids.  Monster Juice Rio Punch is going away as well. If I were a drinking man, I'd mix this with some coconut rum, and we'd have a party. But time to try that mixture is running out.

Java Monster Cafe Latte, Java Monster Irish Creme, Rehab Monster Green Tea, and Monster Nitro Super Dry are all going away as well. I was never a fan of the Monster Coffee flavors; I always preferred coffee instead, but that's just me.

Three of the popular Bang Brand flavors are being discontinued as well. Those are Star Blast, Cotton Candy, and Blue Razz. I have tried them all; they aren't bad, but if you aren't a fan of overly sweet, I could see why you'd pass on these options.

There are two flavors from the Reign Brand that are being discontinued: Reign White Haze and Reign Cherry Limeade. NOS Zero Sugar is also being discontinued.

When Will These Energy Drinks No Longer Be Available in Stores?

Chances are they have already begun disappearing from your favorite retailers' shelves. The discontinuation of some of these flavors began in mid-summer. The disappearance won't be immediate, but don't be surprised if these flavors become very difficult to find after January 1st.

Or if you'd like to save some money and still feel sophisticated, you might try creating one or some of these at home. They are quite popular in their own right, granted you won't get the shakes as you might from a caffeinated drink.
