Mega Millions Winner Revealed by Louisiana Lottery

(Baton Rouge, LA) It's been a few days, but we're finally able to report to you that there was a major win in the multi-state Mega Millions game on a ticket sold in Louisiana. The most recent reported Mega Millions wins in Louisiana were a modest $1,000 winner sold in Spearsville for the August 12th drawing and a $2,500 win on July 29th that came on a ticket sold in New Orleans.

Right now, the Mega Millions game is being overshadowed by the much larger Powerball jackpot. Lottery players who only have the funds to play one or the other are opting to invest in a chance at more than half a billion rather than an amount that is not quite half that.

Louisiana has never had a Mega Millions jackpot prize winner. The Louisiana Lottery has produced a number of big money wins, but no Louisiana-sold ticket has ever matched all of the numbers needed to claim either the cash payout or the annuity.

Speaking of those amounts, here is the drawing from August 15, 2025.

The amount announced as the drawing commenced was $198 million for a jackpot win. But no tickets sold for the drawing on Friday night had that number match scenario. This means Mega Millions on Tuesday will be worth a bit more.

Did Anyone WIn the Mega Millions Lottery Jackpot on Friday?

The game did produce two Match 5 Million winners. Those tickets matched all five of the white balls, but the Mega Ball number did not match. Both tickets were sold in New York State. One ticket had a multiplier of two, the other had a multiplier of three. That means the prize payouts were $2 million and $3 million, respectively.

The Louisiana Lottery is reporting that 75 tickets sold for Friday's Mega Millions drawing earned a prize "times ten" thanks to the game's new multiplier format. The top prize earned by a "10x" ticket was only $100, and only 5 tickets earned that prize.

The data sheet shared from Baton Rouge suggests that 17 players earned a prize of $70 on a "10x" win, while another 48 can lay claim to $50 in a similar scenario. If you'd like to check your numbers and see if you were one of the couple of thousand winners last night, here are the numbers.

If you have a match and want to see if you're a winner or how much you've won, you can do that at the Official Louisiana Lottery website. The site has an easy tool that allows players who played multiple numbers to verify several tickets at once.

As we mentioned, there was no jackpot winner sold across the Mega Ball footprint for Friday's drawing. In Louisiana, there was a $30,000 winner. The ticket matched four of five white balls and the Mega Ball. Under the game's old format, it would have been worth $10,000. But under the new format, because of the tickets' pre-assigned multiplier, we know the payout will be $30,000.

The Louisiana Lottery has not revealed the point of purchase for that big money winner, but we should get that information later this morning. Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday will rise to an estimated $216 million for the annuitized jackpot or $97 million for the cash payout.  Tickets cost $5 if you want to play.

Meanwhile, for a $2 or $3 investment, you can play Powerball with a chance to win more than half a billion dollars. The Powerball jackpot for Saturday, August 16, 2025, is estimated to be $565 million. Tickets are $2 for a ticket or $3 if you want to add the Power Play option. I would, but that's me.

What are the Powerball Jackpot and the Lotto Jackpot in Louisiana for Saturday Night?

Lotto will also draw tonight in Louisiana. If I only had money to spend on one game tonight, I think I would lean toward Lotto. The game's jackpot is $1.675 million, and it just seems overdue to create a big money payout. And yes, I realize the size of the jackpot has nothing to do with the odds of purchasing a winning ticket. It's just my way of saying, I think someone will win the Lotto jackpot tonight.
