Curfew Hours for Minors

The curfew is for the following days and times:

  • Sunday through Thursday - 11:00 pm to 6:00 am
  • Friday and Saturday - 11:59 pm to 6:00 am

Not a New Rule -- Just a Reminder

LPSO reminds the public that this curfew is not new, though. It's been in place for a while now as part of a parish-wide ordinance.

Curfews are common throughout the state of Louisiana.

General Curfew Guidelines in Louisiana

In Louisiana, curfews for minors can vary depending on the specific city or parish, but generally speaking, here is some general curfew information:

  • Age: Most curfew ordinances apply to those under the age of 17.
  • Purpose: Curfews are aimed at reducing juvenile crime and victimization by limiting their presence in public places during late-night hours.
  • Enforcement: Police officers who encounter minors violating curfew may transport them to a designated location (like a police station) and notify their parents or guardians.
  • Penalties: Violation of curfew can include fines for parents/guardians and potential involvement with the juvenile court system for minors.
  • Exceptions: Some common exceptions to curfew ordinances include being accompaniend by a parent or guardian, engaging in work-related activities, or attending school/religious functions.

Check Your Local Ordinances

Again, check the curfew ordinances in your city and/or parish, and make sure your kids are not wandering the streets in the middle of the night.
