Which Models Are Affected by the Ford Recall?

A notice was posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that said the recall covers 492,145 Ford Explorers and includes model years 2016-2017. Those vehicles were produced between June 11, 2015, and April 19, 2017.

The automaker expects to start sending out notification letters to owners on June 9.

Fix Still in the Works, But Free Repairs Promised

It appears, though, that Ford is still trying to figure out a fix for the issue. They said once a remedy to fix the faulty part has been determined, owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicles into a Ford or Lincoln dealership to repair the trim at no cost.
