Body Found in Vermilion River in Lafayette, Louisiana, Foul Play Not Suspected
A body was found floating in the Vermilion River in the Lafayette area this past Saturday, according to authorities with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office.
LPSO spokesperson Valerie Ponseti said that foul play is not suspected.
"The body has been turned over to the coroner at this point," Ponseti told KLFY News.
Officials went on to confirm that they have not identified the deceased yet.
However, there have been posts made on social media by the deceased man's family which state that it was their loved one that was found.
Since we have not contacted the family, we will not post any of their comments or statements until an official announcement is made by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office or another office working on the case.
