Texas Residents and Offices Won’t Have Mail Delivered Thursday

For those in Texas who may be expecting something in the mail this Thursday, you'll have to wait for a later date due to a declaration.

It was announced that the United Postal Service will not run on the above date due to President Joe Biden declaring January 9, 2025, a National Day of Mourning. The date is set to honor the late former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away and will be laid to rest on Thursday.

The Postal Service will not deliver mail on Jan 9th and its offices and facilities will be closed all across the U.S.

In a report, it was announced that "There will be limited package delivery service on that day to ensure the organization does not experience any negative impacts to its package delivery operations.”

Flags are flying at half-staff in front of post offices and other offices throughout the country to honor the former U.S. President.

The USPS will resume normal business hours and operations on Friday, January 10, 2025.

The last time a National Day of Mourning was declared was back in 2018 when President George H.W. Bush passed away.

Aside from the USPS, other important government buildings and the Supreme Court will be shut down this Thursday to honor the late U.S. President.

President Jimmy Carter was 100 years old.
