In total, Miller has served the Catholic Church as a deacon for 31 years. Now Miller has been assigned by the Diocese of Lafayette Bishop Michael Jarrell to extension work in the New Evangelization."

According to the Diocese of Lafayette website, the role of a deacon is about service to the community.

Deacons serve in a variety of ministries: as parish ministers, prison ministry, hospital ministry, diocesan administration, and services.

Early Life and Musical Roots

Cody Miller has an interesting story about the road that led him to his devotion to Mary, the mother of Jesus. His upbringing was with what he describes as "good people", but says they were alcoholics, and Miller says at a very young age, he was introduced to drugs. But when he was young, he was also introduced to music.

The deacon says that despite the woes of life, he always felt the presence of Mary in his life, and as he dealt with his battle with addiction, he knew his life would change. He says when he was 19, he joined a rock ' n ' roll band, and he lived that life for about ten years. He says he spent many years as a professional recording artist and composer.

Turning Point: Faith and Marriage

So, how did Miller's life undergo a significant transformation? He met a wonderful woman named Cindy, and the two married. He says his life changed from watching football on Sundays to going to mass.

While Cindy was responsible for getting him to go to pass and become a deacon, a band member in another local group spoke to him about praying the rosary each day. He also told him about St. Louis Marie de Montfort. This changed the direction of his work as a deacon.
