Back in 2015, Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con was just a wild idea that crash landed in Downtown Shreveport. The first time anyone heard about it, there was probably not much consideration to what it could look like in a decade. But here we are, it's 2025, and Geek'd Con is coming back to the Shreveport Convention Center August 22nd-24th.

Over the last decade, hundreds of celebrity guests, hundreds-of-thousands of fans, and dozens of different vendors have all come through the event. Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, A-list directors, living legends and all rubbed elbows with fans every August in Downtown Shreveport.

But there's something magical about that first year.

The first Geek'd Con, in August of 2015, was headlined by the iconic Peter Mayhew, who has since passed away. Peter played the original Chewbacca in the Star Wars franchise. A large, imposing figure that came off an grouchy, but was one of the sweetest guys to talk with. He was in shock when he was told that he was appearing at the first ever show, commenting that he's done so many shows that had been running for years that didn't go as well as that inaugural Geek'd Con.

In addition to Mr. Mayhew, the guest lineup included stars from The Walking Dead, Supernatural, and American Horror Story. All shows that were massively popular. As well as comic book creators like Joe Eisma and Ben Dunn. Not to mention the creator of Lady Deadpool, Victor Gischler.

But maybe the most memorable single moment from that initial Geek'd Con was a table reading of Star Wars: A New Hope, performed by some of the greatest voice actors in American history. We're talking about the legendary Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Darkwing Duck, and dozens of other legendary characters), Rob Paulsen (Yakko and Pinky in the Animaniacs franchise, Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, P.J. Pete in Goof Troop, and way more), Maurice LaMarche (The Brain in Animaniacs as well as its spin-off Pinky and the Brain, Inspector Gadget, Kif Kroker in Futurama, Egon Spengler in The Real Ghostbusters, and so much more), Jess Harnell (Wakko Warner in Animaniacs, Captain Hero in Drawn Together, Ironhide in the first three Transformers films, just to name a few), and April Stewart (Wendy Testaburger, Liane Cartman, Sharon Marsh, Carol McCormick, Shelley Marsh, Mayor McDaniels, and Principal Victoria in South Park).

These legends lined up and took turns reading the script of Star Wars using the voices we all know and love (as well as some impressions).

Magical moments like this are made every year at Geek'd Con. From wedding proposals to once-in-a-lifetime interactions, Shreveport's comic con delivers year after year. Now for a full decade.
