One of the biggest running jokes in Downtown Shreveport doesn't really feel like a joke to the business at the center of it. For years, The Blind Tiger restaurant on the corner of Texas and Spring Streets in Downtown Shreveport has been getting hit by various vehicles. Literally, cars have been plowing into the front of the restaurant over and over.

When we say "over and over" that doesn't mean once or twice. The Blind Tiger has been hit by vehicles at least five times in the last eight years. With dozens of near-misses recorded as well.

This even includes a Shreveport SporTran bus that crashed through an archway and glanced the front of the building in 2020.

Collisions have taken place into the side windows of the restaurant, right next to tables where guests could be sitting, and even straight onto the doors of the restaurant. With the way the building is situated on the corner, and impact spot from a vehicle could be dangerous to guests and staff of the restaurant.

Over the years, the owners of the restaurant have attempted to find a way to install bollards (posts to prevent cars from colliding with objects) in front of the building to prevent these impacts. Consistently they have run into issues with the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development and the city with the project. However today, we got a pretty shocking update:

The Blind Tiger posted on Facebook today that they are starting the process of installing bollards in front of the building. This will hopefully put an end to The Blind Tigers' drive thru business.
