While there's still unfinished business, the LSU Shreveport Pilots baseball team has put themselves into the all-time record books. Setting a record that we may never see broken.

Last night, the LSUS Pilots beat Hope International (who were the defending NAIA World Series Champions) by a score of 14-4 in the NAIA World Series. This now puts the Pilots one win away from their own NAIA World Series Championship, but it also set an all-time record in college baseball.

The win over Hope International was the 58th of the season for LSUS. Which puts their season record at 58-0...the best there's ever been in college baseball. At ANY level of college baseball...in history.

Along the way, the Pilots have not just been winning games, they've been destroying the competition. The team averages 11.25 runs per game for the season. Their team batting average is .362 (for a frame of reference the LSU Tigers team average is .301 for this season), and they have hit 74 home runs as a team.

The Pilots' 58-game winning streak is super impressive, but it actually isn't the NAIA record. The current Consecutive Game Win Record in the NAIA is 59 games, which was completed by University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma over the span of two seasons. In 2018 and 2019 University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma went undefeated for 59 straight games, but didn't finish either season undefeated.

Right now, the LSUS Pilots are one win away from tying that record, and becoming the first NAIA World Series Champion to finish the season undefeated.
