A terrible situation played out in Shreveport this week, as the body of infant was discovered at a local business.

Authorities say an infant's body was discovered at an industrial laundry facility in Shreveport. The body was discovered inside of a linen bag. Shreveport Police were called to the scene upon the discovery.

It didn't take investigators long to recognize something was different about this scene, and there may not have been a crime committed in Shreveport per se. If a crime was committed, it at least wasn't by a local Shreveport area resident.

While the infant that was discovered at the facility was deceased, it had been dead for some time. In fact, this baby had already been prepared for a funeral service.

Investigation Points to Dallas Funeral Home

The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office was brought into the investigation. They were able to help trace the infant's body back to a funeral home in the Dallas, Texas area. Where the infant had already had its funeral services performed.

Authorities say the Texas funeral home did not deny that the infant's body came from their facility. However, Caddo Parish officials say the Texas funeral home did not offer any immediate explanation on how an infant's body made it from their services in Texas to a laundry facility in Shreveport.

Texas Authorities Take Over Case

Local Shreveport authorities have turned the matter over to Texas investigators. Including the Texas Mortuary Board in Austin. They expect there to be a thorough investigation.
